hey reverb,

yeah, well, like most things, they took a good design, and made it better - more reliable, lighter, faster....

i was in a bike club out in california for a while, and there were all kinds...triumph, bsa, bmw, and all the japanese bike. besides the newer triumphs, the jap bikes were the only ones that didn;t constantly break down...

i would never knock the british bikes, as they started(?) it, and there's a lot of history there, you are right.

just a matter of choice now....

needless to say, i miss that bike, but i am sure the oakland and berkeley police don't....lol

...an old true story: ...in the past, when you purchase the motorcycle (Matchless), they give you a tray!, to collect all the oil, that in other case go to the floor...

the British marks are intended to the REAL rider (the type of guy who likes mechanics). you need to love screws, etc. they were not intended for an old lady for ex..

not the case of the Germans. that you dont have "problems"
Also the BMW is the most reliable bike in the world right now.

I love the British mechanic (motorcycles and cars)spirit..it s equal to the true surfboard or surfing spirit..

...I m trying to buy a MINI (and old one)
